Many leaders and entrepreneurs make decisions fueled by the power of the subconscious mind

But what does that even mean? The subconscious?

Most people including leaders and entrepreneurs are most of the time not aware of the ongoing of their inner world. As in our busy lives, we’re trimmed to go after the next thing after the other - our mind is constantly working.

Yes there is more talk about Mindfulness and “work life balance” (as if there is such a thing, but this is for another time). Mindfulness tools like meditation can support you to go deeper into your subconscious but in mainstream it is used to reduce stress.

The subconscious mind is the most complex aspect of human psychology. It entails the vast array of thoughts, ideas, emotions and memories stored since before birth. It’s an automatic processes operating beneath the surface of our conscious awareness. It's essentially the part of our mind that processes information without our deliberate control or awareness based on stored experiences and the emotions we associate with it.

If we look at extraordinary leaders and entrepreneurs, they are the ones who have set time aside to understand the inner workings of their mind and being by learning to become an observer instead of a reactor. Like for example Ray Dalio who is very well known to practice Transcendental Meditation. He believes that it has enhanced his open-mindedness, higher-level perspective, equanimity, and creativity.

A great - if not even the best - read on this is by Michael A. Singer - The Surrender Experiment: My Journey into Life's Perfection.

The book is a personal story from a successful multi-billion dollar entrepreneur and how his success grew over time while actively working with the subconscious. Over a lifetime he made it his mission to silent the chatter of his mind and thereby stay in uncomfortable situations as he knew that the key is not to control this but to work with it - to surrender to it.

So having quickly touched upon two successful entrepreneurs who are at the same time also great leaders, it’s really about working with the deeper layers of us - our subconsciousness. To gain an understanding of our inner programming by uncovering why we act the way we do and our beliefs we have which can limit us.

By uncovering this, we gain a deeper understanding of our inner world and see the connection of how our subconscious shapes our outer world. When we are able to uncover what is in our subconscious then we can transform it and hence we create a different outcome - every time, in every situation. And thereby we become exceptional entrepreneurs or leaders as we are aware.
